Mastercam X3 Toolpath Is Still A Dead Entity

You can’t select Mastercam X3 toolpath in the graphics area and have the operation that does that toolpath highlight in the Operations Manager.

You can’t window a Mastercam X3 toolpath in the graphics area and delete a section of the toolpath you don’t need.

You can’t select Mastercam X3 toolpath in the graphics area and find out any information about it.

On the other hand this is what can be done in WorkNC:

This is the kind of functionality that the e-Mastercam clique of idiots think is useless and not necessary despite several posters pointing out how valuable this functionality really is on the e-Mastercam forum. With this kind of clique mentality is it any wonder that CNC Software doesn’t feel the pressure to add badly needed functionality that is missing in Mastercam?

The following was posted by former In House Solutions Employee Peter Eigler in August of 2004 and still applies today! In House Solutions hosts/runs the E-Mastercam forum.

“Smartcam had some very nice toolpath editing features for mill and lathe, which enabled you to graphically move, trim, extend or shift toolpath segments to your liking. Obviously Mastercam has a lot of better features (7 more years of development), but Smartcam’s toolpath editor was phenomenal IMHO. Creating custom macros to customize Smartcam was also a big strength of that software. You can easily control every single move, including rapid, home position, retracts etc.”

To this day Mastercam still badly lacks in the area of toolpath control.

I’d really like to know how much longer it’s going to be before CNC Software feels the pressure to finally start fixing the basics in Mastercam that have been missing or broken for so long?
